How to use this calculator

Earned Run Average (ERA) is a statistic used to measure a baseball pitcher's effectiveness. It represents the average number of earned runs a pitcher allows per nine innings pitched.

ERA = (Earned Runs ÷ Innings Pitched) × 9

To use this calculator:

  1. Enter the number of earned runs allowed by the pitcher.
  2. Enter the number of innings pitched. For partial innings, use decimals:
    • 1 out = 0.1 innings (e.g., 7.1 for 7⅓)
    • 2 outs = 0.2 innings (e.g., 7.2 for 7⅔)
  3. Click "Calculate ERA" to get the result.
